Aaron Freeland is an award-winning Navajo artist from Farmington, New Mexico and is considered one of our best pastel artists. He produces works in oil (on canvas), monotype, and pastel as well as
monotype with hand-applied colored chalk and opaque watercolor. His signature works are oils and pastels on black paper. Truth emerges through all of his portraits. He attended the Institute of American Indian Arts (1973-1976) where he studied under Allan Houser, Doug Hyde and other prominent artists of that time.
