EDWARD LEWIS III

Great grandson of Lucy M. Lewis, the renowned Acoma potter, his Grandparents are Katherine and Edward Lewis and his parents are Eva Concho and Edward Lewis Jr.  He often credits his Aunties, known as “the Five Lewis Sisters of Acoma”  for  greatly influencing his work.

Traditional Acoma pottery is made from a gray clay body and formed by hand, using coils. After the pot is shaped and dried, a white slip is applied. Next, the design is applied using natural mineral paints and a brush made from yucca. Finally it is fired in outdoor pits.

A must buy for anyone who appreciates fine craftsmanship!
